Fifty-Two | Nineteen

52:19 | Motherhood is: Grandparents |

Nana & Poppi, Memere & Pepere. If there are four people in this world Sophie loves, it’s her grandparents.

We are lucky enough to live in the same city as my parents, so Sophie has spent a lot of time with them growing up. Every morning when she wakes up she says Yaya?, (nana), Boppi?, (Poppi), and I have to tell her whether yes, or no, we will be seeing them today.

Memere & Pepere live in Edmonton, and we try to get together with them at least twice a year. Between Skype, our bi-annual visits, and every other Christmas, we’ve managed to see them quite a bit since Sophie was born. We were recently there for a visit, and Sophie had a great time getting to know them better.

I know I am grateful for my relationship with my grandparents, and I am even more grateful for my parents having a close relationship with Sophie. It is so different from your relationship with your own parents; a relationship of unconditional love, good-times, and possibly a little too much spoiling (in a good way).

  1. Oh how great to have those lasting and familiar connections with grandparents. with all of our family in eastern canada, the one thing that i make for certain is that my girls have a very strong awareness and comfort with their grandparents. technology is a huge credit to that!
north arm farm? are raspberries in? what did you get/pick?

    • No, raspberries aren’t quite in yet (soon though). We went for the strawberries and got a big bucket each!! Lot’s of picking (and eating, on Soph’s part) fun!!
